Electrolysis
Sir Humphry Davy, an English chemist and physicist who employed electrolysis to extract new chemical elements such as boron, potassium, sodium, barium, calcium, magnesium and strontium, ascertained that electrolysis can also be used to extract a new metal from aluminium oxide. He named it aluminium.
